IMPORTANT NOTE:The Summer Workshop is an essential element of the program and establishes a foundation for successful Teacher/Fellow partnerships. Therefore, all selected Teachers and Fellows must be available to attend ALL five days of the HEATWAVES Summer Workshop (Date TBA)

Each year this program is open to nine (9) graduate students in any engineering discipline with a focus on water and energy research. Graduate students will have completed at least one year of study prior to applying for the program. The program pays a stipend of $30,000 over the course of one year, plus tuition.

2. One page Statement of Interest that includes:
research background and experience
interest in and previous experience with K-12 outreach and education and/or ideas for communicating your research for grades 6-12
address how this experience could complement your development as an engineer and educator
3. One page Research Summary written for the general public
Teacher Partners:2013-2014 Teacher Application deadline: March 4, 2013
The GK-12 experience is open to junior high and high school teachers of physics, chemistry, math and engineering within the Tucson/Marana region. High school teachers will apply individually, Junior High teachers will apply individually or as a team. The program pays a stipend of $5,000 over the course of one year.

a description of how the partnership will benefit your content knowledge and teaching, and how it will impact your students.
a description of your professional preparation and background in teaching.
a description of your school, student demographics, as well as any special programs that are relevant to the partnership.
for Middle School teams: please describe how you anticipate structuring the fellowship in terms of how/when the Fellow might work with each teacher on the team.

All applicants must be U.S. Residents or hold Permanent Resident status.
